Updated Children Act 1989 statutory guidance issued to local authorities

The Department for Education has issued additional, updated statutory guidance to local authorities with respect to carrying out various functions under the Children Act 1989.

The documents supplement the 2010 guidance “Children Act 1989: care planning, placement and case review” and are entitled:

Looked after children and youth justice

Early permanence placements and approval of prospective adopters as foster carers

Looked-after children: contact with siblings

Out-of-authority placement of looked-after children
