The Association of Lawyers for Children, in association with Hanson Renouf, is hosting a conference entitled “Children, health and the law” on 3rd October 2014 in Jersey.

The programme features a number of eminent speakers and the topics should be of significant interest to anybody practising in children law:

Transition planning for children in care with continuing health needs

Safeguarding in an acute setting

The importance of GPs working with social services

Recognising early signs of abuse and early intervention

Should doctors know more about the law and lawyers more about medicine when considering non-accidental injury?

Legal aspects to consent to medical treatment and safeguarding

Consent to medical treatment by minors

The impact of maltreatment and parental conflict on children’s mental health

The impact of MASH on joined up thinking for children with mental health needs

The keynote speaker is Mr Justice Hayden and the conference is chaired by Frances Judd QC.  The poster and programme can be found below.  Attendance is encouraged, not least as it would require a brief sojourn to beautiful Jersey!
