Skills for social workers: consultation launched

  |   Latest News

The Department for Education launched on 31st July 2014 a public consultation in order to garner views on its proposed statement of “Knowledge and skills for child and family social work”.

The draft statement is intended to concisely set out the knowledge and skill base required of all child and family social workers and follows Sir Martin Narey’s independent review which was published in February this year. The review identified the need for a single document to fully set out what social workers ought to know and be able to do when newly-qualified.

The consultation is open until 9th October 2014.  The consultation documents, draft statement and information as to how you can respond can be found here.
